Marco Reus admits he prefers to watch the Premier League or La Liga over other leagues.

The 33-year-old forward, who has made over 300 appearances in the Bundesliga for boyhood club Borussia Dortmund, knows the German league more than most.

As well spending 10 years at the Westfalenstadion with his beloved Dortmund – a team he now captains – Reus enjoyed a three year spell with Borussia Monchengladbach between 2009 and 2012.

In years gone by, Reus has turned down big money moves to stay with 'BVB' in the Bundesliga.

But in a recent interview with The OMR Podcast, the experienced forward admitted he prefers to watch other leagues rather than Germany's top flight.

🗣 "I know the Bundesliga. They have less money than the clubs in England, so it's difficult to get the absolute top players."

During the refreshingly honest chat, Reus opened up about a number of topics, including the impact of former boss Jurgen Klopp and why he doesn't want to become a coach in the Bundesliga.

He also spoke about watching other leagues in his spare time.

"Honestly, I prefer to watch the Premier League or La Liga," he said. "Like when Barca plays against Real [Madrid]. I know a little bit about the Premier League. It's a special game when City plays United."

Reus also spoke about Borussia Dortmund's current situation when it comes to transfers.

"It's always a shame to see that we sign incredibly good young players who then unfortunately have the dream of developing somewhere else after two or three years," Reus told The OMR Podcast.

"If we had been able to keep the players we had, we would have made quite a splash in Europe.”

Many players have swapped Borussia Dortmund for rivals Bayern Munich in years gone by but the loyal Reus says he would never join the reigning Bundesliga champions.

"The request came [from Bayern], as it did from other clubs. I have the greatest respect for Bayern Munich and what the club has been doing for decades," Reus told Sport Bild in 2020.

"But I always wanted to play for BVB. It was always the club my heart drew me to.

"When I played in Gladbach at the time, it was clear to me: within the Bundesliga, I would only change to Dortmund, otherwise I will go abroad."
