"The reality is..." - Romano drops update on Man Utd's search for a new striker as timeframe revealed

"The reality is..." - Romano drops update on Man Utd's search for a new striker as timeframe revealed

The Red Devils' transfer plans have been revealed.

Manchester United have been rumoured with a number of strikers recently, as Erik ten Hag seeks a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The club signed Wout Weghorst on loan as a temporary solution in January, but he is yet to kick on in a United shirt, scoring just one goal in seven starts.

The Red Devils dropped points against Leeds on Wednesday in a 2-2 draw, with the Dutchman withdrawn before the hour mark.

After finding themselves 2-0 down in the second half, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho turned up to help rescue a point at Old Trafford.

Fans will be hoping for revenge at Elland Road on Sunday in the pairs' reverse fixture.

They are currently third in the Premier League table - two points behind local rivals Manchester City and a further seven behind league leaders Arsenal.

But fans will hope that signing a top-class striker will transform them into serious title contenders next season, with plenty of names being floated around, including Roma striker Tammy Abraham.

Romano reveals Man Utd transfer plans

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now dropped a fresh update for fans, outlining the club's transfer timeframe.

Writing for CaughtOffside, Romano said: "I’m not aware of any contact or negotiation for Abraham on Manchester United side, at the moment.

"I think we will hear many names around Man Utd, every day we have Vlahovic, Kane, Sesko, Osimhen, Abraham… but the reality is that decision time will not be February or March."

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is thought to be Ten Hag's top target, with the Dutchman preferring a more mobile forward.

The Nigerian is top scorer in Serie A, having scored 16 goals in all competitions this campaign.

However, the Italian club's president has insisted his prized asset is 'not for sale' with the club demanding upward of £100million for the 24-year-old.
