Manchester United have been told they would need to pay at least £89million to land Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag has expressed his desire to sign a top-class striker this summer, having identified the Nigerian as a potential target. However, they could face competition from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Osimhen is top scorer in Serie A, having scored 15 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions this season.

The Red Devils have also been rumoured with a move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane. Although the United boss is thought to favour a number nine with pace, such as Osimhen.

FC Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic are also said to be on Ten Hag's radar.

Napoli's asking price revealed

ESPN report that Napoli will not part ways with the 24-year-old for less than €100 million (£89million).

The price may come as a boost to Red Devils fans who were originally informed that he would cost around £130million, according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.

However, the prospect of both Manchester United and PSG going head to head for his signature could increase the fee to even more.

Osimhen has two years left on his contract at Napoli, having arrived at the club in a £63million move from Lille in 2020.

Ten Hag signed Wout Weghorst from Burnley as a temporary replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, opting for a six-month loan deal as opposed to a permanent transfer. This was to allow United to go after a a more expensive striker in the summer.

Kane to Man Utd

Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer move for Kane. However, new reports have outlined the financial implications of a transfer.

According to The Daily Star, United could be forced to make a U-turn on the Ronaldo rule in a bid to pay up a whopping £375,000-per-week deal for Kane.

The club reportedly agreed on a new wage structure that would limit players earning over £200k, following the termination of Ronaldo's lofty wage bill.

But the report claimed that top players are now able to ‘double their basic wage’ if they are able to meet certain add-ons, from appearances to winning trophies.

Aside from the add-ons, wages and signing-on fee, United would also be required to pay Tottenham a transfer fee for the 29-year-old.

Kane is under contract with Spurs until 2024, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has a reputation for playing hardball over transfer negotiations.
