Manchester United have completed their first summer transfer as Fabrizio Romano drops the exciting news.
Despite spending more than £200m last summer, United have made a disappointing start to the new campaign. Having already lost three of their opening six league games, head coach Ruben Amorim is under mounting pressure to turn things around as he approaches one year at Old Trafford.
And while questions remain over Amorim's future, the club has wasted no time in planning ahead by securing one of South America's brightest prospects. The update was delivered by the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
He wrote: "Manchester United have now sealed and signed deal to bring in 17 year old Colombian talent Cristian Orozco. $1m transfer fee from Fortaleza in deal valid from summer 2026.

"MUFC lawyers approved all the contracts, deal coordinated by lead scout Antonaccio. Here we go."
The agreement will allow Orozco to officially join next summer when he's 18 and eligible to complete his move to England.
Orozco is a defensive midfielder currently playing for Fortaleza FC in Colombia having joined them earlier this year from Rojo FC.

He is the captain of Colombia's under-17s, and has made nine appearances at that youth level. Orozco impressed scouts at the South American U17 Championship earlier this year, where Colombia reached the final, where they lost on penalties to Brazil.
Although he is a defensive midfielder, he is not the most physically imposing at 5 foot 8 (1.78m and 72k. But he has received credit for the technical ability that he has already showed at such a young age.
@RisingStarXI on X described him as a player with "maturity well beyond his years."
They explained that he is capable breaking up play and taking the ball under pressure before trying to change the tempo of the game.

The signing is another example of INEOS' focus on recruiting elite young talent both domestically and abroad.
In 2024, they brought in two highly-rated youngsters from Arsenal in Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven, with both players already featuring for the United first team.

From overseas, United also secured the Malian midfielder Sekou Kone in 2024, following his standout performances at the U-17 World Cup.
Kone is currently side-lined after suffering a a nasty head injury in August while representing the youth team in a National League Cup game at Tamworth.
