With Liverpool fans able to rest assured Mo Salah will be sticking around for a few more years at Anfield, they can start to think how Jürgen Klopp will set up his attack next season.

The German tactician has a number of options in front of him.

Before losing Sadio Mané, Liverpool already held the services of the likes of Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Roberto Firmino. Now, on top of those four, two fresh faces will be competing for a starting spot.

Darwin Nuñez has signed from Benfica in a deal worth up to £85.5 million alongside Fabio Carvalho who has made a switch from Fulham.

Both players are unproven in the Premier League, but Liverpool fans will be hoping they can adapt quickly to the demands of the English topflight.

The 19-year-old Carvalho will likely play more of a bit-part role in his first season at Anfield.

He’ll fill in when required in cup competitions and look to contest his fellow attackers from the bench.

Nuñez, on the other hand, will be hoping to walk straight into Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Yet to play football in one of Europe’s big five leagues, Liverpool’s move for the Uruguayan represents something of a risk.

However, one suspects Nuñez will be thrown into the deep end early on by being handed a starting birth as the centre-forward. Roberto Firmino will deputise for him.

To Nuñez’s right, Mo Salah will inevitably keep his place.

The likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Rodrygo, and Marco Asensio have been linked with a switch to Liverpool to play in such a role, but they won’t be making the move following Salah’s contract extension.

On the left, there will be some serious competition. In Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, Liverpool have two of the most feared wide forwards in the league.

After a strong end to the season, Diaz will likely keep his place for now. He’ll need carry on his fine end of season form if he is to keep Jota out.

So, when Liverpool open their Premier League season away at Fulham in just over a month, expect to see Darwin Nuñez starting through the middle with Luis Diaz and Mo Salah either side of him.
