Vinicius Jr makes final decision on future as announcement expected 'by the end of the week'

After weeks of intense speculation, Vinicius Jr has reportedly made a final decision regarding his future.

The 26-year-old forward has been strongly linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer, with Premier League champions Arsenal said to be keen on a deal to sign the Brazil international.

Mikel Arteta has refused to comment publicly on Vinicius, but according to Spanish publication AS, Arsenal's first-team dressing room have been 'asking questions' about a potential transfer of late.

Despite the persistent rumours, Vinicius joined up with the rest of his teammates for pre-season training under new manager Jose Mourinho.

In fact, he held talks with Real Madrid management at the club's training ground on Wednesday afternoon as the club demanded an answer from the Brazilian and his representatives over their contract proposal.

It has been claimed throughout the saga that there are three potential options on the table for Vinicius - to stay at Real, to join Arsenal or to leave as a free agent next summer without renewing his deal.

Now, it has emerged that the forward has reached an agreement to renew his contract at Real Madrid, according to The Athletic, with the new deal set to be announced 'by the end of the week'.

The report adds that Arsenal’s ownership were 'fully behind' going ahead with a move for Vinicius if he was available. However, a proposed deal appears to be off the cards following the latest development.

Earlier this week, Vinicius appeared to drop a hint regarding his future as he spoke to Real Madrid TV.

"It has gone very well, getting to know the new coach and the new players, and training very hard," he said when asked about pre-season. "Mourinho wants me to be as I have always been: happy, cheerful and playing my football.

"We have to prepare physically so that during the season we have fewer injuries and can count on everyone. It was a good training session and we all left very tired, but now it's time to rest for tomorrow. That's how pre-season is, and we have to be ready."
