Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has been questioned over his comments about spending levels in the Championship.
The Red Dragons were defeated 2-1 by newly-relegated Southampton on Saturday in what was their first game in the second tier for 43 years.
Josh Windass gave Wrexham the lead from the penalty spot in the first half, but Ryan Manning equalised for the Saints with a stunning free-kick.

Jack Stephens then scored the winning goal from close range in the sixth minute of injury time to send Wrexham home pointless.
It was a result that Southampton deserved on the balance of play, with Will Still securing victory in his first game as Saints manager.
Parkinson, however, was left to deal with a huge blow as £4 million signing Kieffer Moore - who won Wrexham's penalty - had to be substituted with suspected ankle ligament damage.
But the Wrexham boss noted how the value of Southampton's substitutes highlighted the difference between where the two sides are at currently.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said: "Listen, Southampton have put subs on worth about £30 to £40 million today, and that's probably the difference."
Manning and Stephens, who scored off the bench, arrived at the club on a free transfer and for a nominal fee respectively.
Parkinson was instead referencing to Brazilian midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who was signed by the Saints for £15.5 million last summer.
However, he has been linked with a move to West Ham, likely for a significantly higher fee than what they paid for him.
Striker Damion Downs, signed for £7 million, also played a role off the bench, as well as £15 million acquisition Cameron Archer.

The Saints have only completed two permanent deals this summer, though, with Downs joined by the £3.5m signing of defender Joshua Quarshie, with the difference being that their previous big-spending resulted from them playing top division football.
Some fans, therefore, questioned Parkinson's statement, given that Wrexham have also had considerably more to spend than the vast majority of clubs in League One, League Two and the National League when they played in those divisions.
They have also been linked with a £7.5 million move for Ipswich forward Nathan Broadhead, as well as already spending £4m on Moore and £2m on centre-back Conor Coady.
One fan wrote on Twitter: "Wrexham moaning about the financial clout seems a bit rich."

A second said: "I like Wrexham, but they got a reality check today."
While a third analysed: "It's not like that's because we're [Southampton] a richer club. I think Wrexham is about similar in terms of financial income now. It's just because we've spent more time in higher leagues. Give it a few years and Wrexham will do the same to the next team."
