Adebayo Akinfenwa threatens to start petition if EA Sports don't fix his appearance on FC 27

Former Wycombe Wanderers striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is far from happy with his new-look appearance in EA Sports FC 27, describing it as "a straight injustice" after an image went viral on social media.

Earlier this year, EA Sports announced the Hall of FUT - a new addition to FC 27 that will honour cult heroes and fan favourites who have defined the Ultimate Team game mode over the past 18 years.

Marouane Fellaini, Giovani dos Santos, Loic Remy and Eljero Elia will be included in the game alongside Adebayo Akinfenwa, who was the first player to be included in the Hall of FUT.

According to EA's website, Akinfenwa is considered by the FC community as "one of the strongest footballers in recent memory" and his game is "defined by punishing defenders with an aggressive, physical style of play."

In fact, his physicality in-game has previously been maxed out at 99, but the man himself is currently unimpressed by the small stature (by his standards) of his virtual player on the upcoming release.

Taking to TikTok this week, the 44-year-old described his new look in EA Sports FC 27 as a "straight injustice" and threatened to start a petition if they don't fix his body in the game.

"Hey, this is a quick message to the powers that be at EA," said Akinfenwa. "Look, this is how I looked when I played the game. This is how I look when I'm rocking a kit. And this is how we look in FC 27. It's a straight injustice.

"Ay yo, they call me a beast for a reason. I'll have to start a petition to get the body type right. I'm coming up to HQ. You don't want that happening."

Here's how fans on social media reacted to Akinfenwa's appearance in the game, which will be launched globally on September 25.

One wrote: "NickRTFM is spot on about every player feeling the same in FIFA btw! Literally 0 uniqueness. On the left is Akinfenwa in FC27 vs him when he was active Why does he look so small in the game?"

A second said: "He looked perfectly fine in previous FIFAs," and a third commented: "They done him dirty tbf."

A fourth wrote: "Akinfenwa posted a TikTok video demanding that EA make his body bigger in the game because in real life he is bigger," and a fifth added: "Akinfenwa doesn't seem too pleased with his appearance in FC 27."

EA Sports FC 27 given new age rating for first time in franchise history

Kylian Mbappe was recently announced as the cover star for both the standard and ultimate editions of EA Sports FC 27, but another detail on the game’s new-look case has also got people talking.

As seen in a picture that has circulated online over the past week, the new PEGI 16 rating can be seen in the bottom left corner of this year's front cover.

For context, the Pan-European Game Information body (PEGI)'s age ratings are displayed on games sold in the UK and 34 other European countries to indicate their suitability for children of different ages.

In the past, all of EA's football-related titles have received a PEGI 3 rating, but stricter guidelines for classifying a game's age rating have now been introduced, with microtransactions and loot boxes playing a major factor behind the changes.

In fact, earlier this year, PEGI decided that any game containing loot boxes or similar gambling mechanics will receive a minimum PEGI 16 rating by default.
