AC Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken out to address rumours that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford could join the club this month.

In a shock interview last month, Rashford suggested that his time at boyhood club United could be over after telling respected journalist Henry Winter that was ready to take on a new challenge.

Immediately after the Englishman's confessions, rumours linking him to several of the top clubs in Europe began to appear, with Serie A giants AC Milan emerging as his most likely destination.

And now, club icon Ibrahimovic has spoken out to offer his opinion on Rashford joining his former club and reveal the latest on negotiations.

In December 2023, Ibrahimovic accepted the role of Senior Advisor to AC Milan's Ownership and Senior Management, offered to him by the club's owners Redbird Capital Partners.

Therefore, the 43-year-old will be heavily involved in any potential transfer negotiations for his former United teammate, allowing him to give a huge update about the deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ibrahimovic revealed: "Rashford? I know him very well, I played with him when he was young. He did great things with Manchester and is one of their players.

"Everyone wants to play for AC Milan, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"Difficult operation, we haven't spoken to him yet, let's see."

The Swede's sentiment was shared by new Milan manager Segio Conceicao, who has become extremely popular with fans after winning the Italian Super Cup with consecutive victories over Juventus and local rivals Inter Milan.

Although he made it clear that he was frustrated by the constant rumours, the Portuguese manager refused to rule out Rashford joining the club this month.

“In Portugal, it’s even worse. Here we talk about football, and every now and then someone tries this," Conceicao said

"Rashford is a good player like many others, some are on the market, others are not, let’s see what happens.”

However, while both Ibrahimovic and Conceicao remained coy about any potential deal with United for Rashford, recent reports have suggested that it is more likely than not that Rashford will seal a move away from United, with Milan remaining the most likely destination.
