AC Milan have reportedly approached a Premier League boss as their ideal target after sacking former boss Max Allegri.
It's no secret that AC Milan had a truly disastrous end to the 2025/26 season as a 2-1 defeat by Cagliari on the final day saw them fall from third to fifth in Serie A.
In doing so, the European giants missed out on Champions League football for the second year in a row, a damning fact for a club that has won the competition seven times.
Shortly after the loss, AC Milan owners RedBird Capital released a statement labelling the season 'an unequivocal failure' and confirming that there would be a 'comprehensive reorganisation' at the club.

As such manager Allegri, as well as Chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were all sacked by the AC Milan owners.
And now it appears that the club board have already identified their ideal replacement as several reports have claimed that Andoni Iraola has been approached about taking over the Italian side.
Despite leading Bournemouth in a spectacular season, Iraola's departure from the club was confirmed several months ago, with the Spaniard calling time on his three-year spell at the club by getting them into Europe for the first time in their history.
The decision leaves Iraola available as a free agent on the market, with several big clubs expected to get in touch over the summer.
Among them is fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, who also lost their manager in Oliver Glasner at the end of the season.
Meanwhile Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have also expressed an interest in securing Iraola's signature.
And should Liverpool part ways with manager Arne Slot over the summer or early next season, there can be no doubt that Iraola will be one of the names linked with the Anfield job should he still be available.
And if Iraola is to go elsewhere, there are several other big names that AC Milan are reportedly considering, with Aston Villa manager Unai Emery believed to be another key target after leading the Birmingham club to the Europa League title this season.
Xavi, who remains a free agent after leaving Barcelona in 2024, ex-Juventus coach Thiago Motta, and Bologna’s Vincenzo Italiano are also believed to be on AC Milan's radar.
