Wayne Rooney makes shocking accusation aimed at Man Utd's injured players after Erik ten Hag interview

Manchester United were beaten by Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney made a huge accusation aimed at Manchester United’s injured players after their defeat by Arsenal.

On Sunday afternoon, United welcomed Arsenal to Old Trafford in a bid to dent Mikel Arteta’s men’s Premier League title charge.

United started the game well but they eventually fell behind in the 20th minute.

Kai Havertz found space on the right-hand side before playing the ball across the box for Leandro Trossard to tap home.

Havertz was kept onside in the build-up after Casemiro failed to step up alongside the rest of the United defence.

Arsenal held on to secure a vital 1-0 win to take them back to the top of the table.

Coming into the match, United were hit with a long list of injuries with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw all out with problems.

Speaking after the match, Rooney appeared to make a shocking accusation about the injured players.

He said on Sky Sports: “I've said this a few weeks ago, the players need to look at themselves. When you've got your manager during an interview and he's talking about attitude and attitudes not being right. That is a massive insult. If I seen my manager saying that, there is no way I'd let that ride until the end of the season. I feel some players are just trying to get to the end of the season so I feel for him in that way. Ultimately, it's his job to make sure the players are right.

"As we look at the injuries, some of them players can play. Yes, 100%. It's easy, you've got a European Championship coming up, an FA Cup final coming up - it's easy for the players, because they're getting a bit of stick now, to stay out for a little bit and come back for the FA Cup final and get ready for the European Championships. I've seen it myself over the years, I just think the players who are injured are not filling themselves with any credit at the minute and the manager is going to take all the stick for that."

Former United captain Roy Keane added: Keane: "Obviously, that's not a good sign. You'd hope players who are carrying injuries are desperate to get back playing again. There is always a worry, there is always players at every club that can drag their heels with an injury. Generally, players I played with when they were given a period they'd be injured for, they were always trying to knock a week off it and get back playing for Manchester United or whatever club they're at. It's always a worry but I have to say, it goes on at lots of football clubs. There is lots of players out there when they have an injury, they're not in the hurry to get back in the team. I think that's obvious and happens at lots of football clubs."
