Napoli activate new Scott McTominay clause that shows his true value after Kevin De Bruyne arrival

Scott McTominay has had a great impact on Napoli's Scudetto win and is expected to be a key part next season even with Kevin De Bruyne.

Napoli have continued showing their admiration for and dedication to Scott McTominay despite the arrival of superstar midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne was officially announced as a Napoli player this summer after a legendary spell at Manchester City, where he won six Premier League titles.

The 33-year-old decided it was time to leave City earlier this year and had kept his options to moving abroad as well.

Bagging six goals and eight assists in his last season in the Premier League, the Belgian clearly showed that he has a few more years of top-flight football left in him, sparking the interest of Scudetto winners Napoli.

The Naples-based team won the Seria A title in stunning fashion, beating out rivals Inter Milan by just one point on the final day of the Italian season.

Their star performer for the season was Scott McTominay who was named as the MVP of the league for his exploits for the club, scoring vital goals in the final run in to secure glory with a bicycle kick in the last game of the season.

Manchester United fans expressed their thoughts on De Bruyne joining McTominay in Napoli and while some were comical, it was clear the City legend will also be impactful for the team as both compete for the same spot in the starting 11.

With De Bruyne arriving, questions were asked as to whether it would see the former Manchester United player's role in the team impacted for the worse. But the club's latest action shows that they will continue to build around De Bruyne.

Napoli trademark McTominay's Italian nickname

McTominay openly loves his life in Naples and is adored by the fans due to his on the field performances. He had a rollercoaster of a career at United, but under Antonio Conte, McTominay's game has improved.

During his first season, McTominay was given the nickname 'McFratm' by his teammate Pasquale Mazzocchi. It is put together by taking the first two words of his name and the Neapolitan word 'fratemo' - which means brother.

McFratm T-shirts and magnets are already seen in Naples. The club decided to trademark the word 'McFratm' last month to gain some commercial benefit on it.

Napoli have filed for the trademark in nine product categories including sporting goods, stationery and even food produce.

McTominay's impact has been such that fans have already even started to tattoo 'McFratm' on their hands.

While De Bruyne's arrival is a major cause of excitement for the Scudetto winners, the city of Naples will be glad that they were able to sign a player like McTominay, who in just a year has won a special place in the hearts of fans with his performances.

And with the club moving to trademark McTominay's nickname, it shows he will remain at the heart of their plans for the 2025/26 season.
