Man Utd fans make bold Scott McTominay claim after Kevin De Bruyne agrees Napoli deal

Manchester legend de Bruyne set to join former rival in Napoli under Antonio Conte

Manchester United fans have made a bold prediction about Scott McTominay after Manchester City legend Kevin de Bruyne agreed to join him at Napoli.

Last summer, McTominay left his boyhood club and made the move to Italy for a deal worth around €30 million.

Since arriving in Serie A, the 28-year-old Scottish midfielder has been a revelation under former Chelsea and Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

He scored 13 goals and registered six assists in all competitions during his debut season.

Most memorably, he scored a bicycle kick on the final day as Napoli beat Cagliari to win the title by just one point from Inter Milan.

His key contributions were recognised, as he was named the Serie A's Most Valuable Player (MVP), an award which has previously been won by Cristiano Ronaldo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Romelu Lukaku, among others.

It now appears that Manchester City legend Kevin de Bruyne is set to join him in Naples.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano wrote: "BREAKING: Kevin De Bruyne to Napoli, here we go! Final green light arrives from Belgian star to join Italian champions.

"Two year deal plus option agreed, medical and formal steps to follow for KDB to become Napoli player.

"Massive signing for Napoli, planning for more to come."

How have Manchester United fans reacted?

Many United fans took the de Bruyne news as an opportunity to get on X and half-jokingly praise McTominay - while also somewhat saying KDB needs to get in line when it comes to who starts behind Romelu Lukaku in attacking midfield.

@the_REAL_deal88 added: "Treble winner Kevin De Bruyne wants to play with Scott McTominay.

"Totally understandable....."

@calebrebelo_ said: "De Bruyne going to be privileged to play next to McTominay."

Will they both start for Napoli?

Yes, Conte will want to find a way to play them both.

For Napoli's final game of the season they deployed a 4-3-3 with McTominay on the left side of the midfield three alongside former Chelsea and Brighton player Billy Gilmour and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Anguissa has been linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, which would open up a space in midfield for de Bruyne.

The Belgian may also play onthe right of the front three in place of Matteo Politano, who registered just three goals and four assists in Serie A last year.

Another storyline for Premier League fans to keep an eye out for will be de Bruyne linking up with fellow Belgian Lukaku.
