Manchester City have drawn 0-0 with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in a result that could be crucial in deciding the destination of this season's Premier League title.

Arsenal entered the day on top of the Premier League table, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

But Jurgen Klopp's side reclaimed the advantage with a 2-1 win over Brighton, meaning the Gunners had to win at City to return to the summit of the table.

However, the match was one of relatively few chances, with just two shots on target by the 80th minute.

Gabriel Jesus went close for Arsenal when his low effort went just past the post in the first half, and Leandro Trossard forced a save out of Stefan Ortega late on, but neither side was able to test their respective opposition goalkeepers on a regular basis.

And many fans had the same complaint once the full-time whistle blew at the Etihad Stadium.

One wrote: "Watching this match is pure torture."

A second agreed: "Marginally better than the first half but still frustratingly dull."

A third added: "So much hype for this."

And a fourth said: "I'm not sure either team deserves to win this."

Another fan, meanwhile, claimed: "These kinds of big games are typically built up, but in actuality they are usually boring because both teams are terrified of losing."

The result does mean that Arsenal stay ahead of City in the Premier League table, but they are now two points off Liverpool with a further nine games for all three teams to play this season.

City are next in action on Wednesday when they host Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, while Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium to host Luton Town in a repeat of their stunning 4-3 matchup earlier in the campaign.

For today, though, it's Liverpool that were the big winners - and they will hope to hold on to their lead of the title race all the way until the end of the final day.
