Arsenal fans are blaming one man if they don't win Premier League after Wolves draw

Arsenal fans have been left furious after they conceded two second-half goals to draw 2-2 against Wolves at Molineux.

Mikel Arteta's side could have gone seven points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win in the west Midlands.

And they looked set to do exactly that after going 2-0 ahead, with Bukayo Saka's fifth-minute finish from close erange giving them the advantage inside five minutes.

Piero Hincapie doubled the advantage on 56 minutes after a VAR offside check was cleared.

But Wolves, who are bottom of the Premier League and had won just nine points all season prior to Wednesday, hit back through Hugo Bueno's stunning strike from outside the box on 61 minutes.

And the comeback was completed by the hosts in stoppage time when debutant Tom Edozie's shot ricocheted off Riccardo Calafiori, hit the post and then struck the Arsenal defender again before crossing the line.

And Gunners fans are convinced that one person - manager Mikel Arteta - is to blame.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Arteta doesn't have the mentality of winning the Premier League for Arsenal."

A second said: "Arteta has put the league back in City's hands."

A third stated: "Last season when Arteta altered his tactics to safe plays and control, it was obvious there was a problem with it. You can't go over the line if you keep playing safe. He lost the league."

Since the Spaniard's stewardship began in 2019, Arteta has taken Arsenal from Champions League qualification contenders to regular Premier League title challengers.

Despite their recent run of poor form, the Gunners are still top of the Premier League table by five points - second-placed Manchester City do have a game in hand - and they remain on course to win their first top division title since 2004.

There have been question marks in recent weeks over Arsenal's cautious style of play and their reliance on set pieces - though that hasn't yet affected their league position.

The Gunners rank fourth for open play goals this season with 29, though that figure is 13 behind City's total for the 2025/26 campaign.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw, Arteta told Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison: "Very tough. The second half we didn't perform at any level, in any aspect of the game, at the standards I require to win a game in the Premier League, and we paid the price today.

"Too many things that went wrong, one after the other, basically. We didn't get any dominance or control of the game.

"It's better not to judge it, we are all too emotional about it, and this is not the moment to do it.

"It is a moment, when you don't perform and you are at this level, and expectations are where they are, that you have to take the hit. Because we deserve it."
