Kate Abdo made Jamie Carragher error on CBS Sports broadcast before controversial comment

Kate Abdo made Jamie Carragher error on CBS Sports broadcast before controversial comment

Kate Abdo made a huge blunder on CBS Sports

Kate Abdo left the CBS Sports desk in stitches with a hilarious blunder before Jamie Carragher’s controversial comment.

Carragher made the headlines after Tuesday’s Champions League actions for a joke made on broadcast that did not land well.

Some fans called for the ex-Liverpool defender to lose his position on the broadcast team as a result of the joke that referenced Abdo’s fiancee Malik Scott.

However, Abdo put such suggestions to bed on Wednesday, kicking off CBS’s coverage of Atletico Madrid vs Inter Milan with a perfect speech where she confirmed the Sky Sports pundit had apologised and there were no issues between the pair.

She said: “Does he go too far sometimes? Absolutely. Does he apologise? Yes he does. But all of us have that annoying family member that we all love and accept."

Prior to Carragher making his ill-timed joke, Abdo had left the desk in stitches with a blunder live on air prior to Arsenal’s win against Porto.

When introducing her colleagues, she accidentally introduced Carragher as Jamie Redknapp, which prompted Thierry Henry to walk away from the desk with a smirk on his face.

Carragher swiftly replied: “You wish! Jamie Redknapp - I can’t believe it”.

“Can we rewind that one? Jamie Carragher - I wouldn’t want to have anyone else,” Abdo said in response.

That wasn’t the end for Carragher though as the CBS host aimed another dig at her co-host on Instagram.

Referencing her error, Abdo posted a poll to her story asking whether they should replace Carragher with Redknapp. Before CBS’ Champions League coverage kicked off on Wednesday, she revealed that Redknapp was the victor of the poll, claiming 65% of the votes.

Abdo’s opening monologue confirmed the fan-favourite broadcast team would be sticking together for the foreseeable future.

She said: "Like a good family, we stick together. So here we are - another day, another show. Good to be with you all."
