Fans are adamant that Declan Rice stopped himself from saying one thing during his post-match interview.

After scoring two stunning freekicks against Real Madrid last week at the Emirates Stadium, Rice was the star of the show again as Arsenal sent Los Blancos packing in the Champions League.

The Gunners came away 2-1 winners on the night, moving on to the semi-final via a 5-1 aggregate victory.

In the next round, Mikel Arteta's men will take on French giants Paris Saint Germain.

Speaking after the match, Rice was heard saying: "We now have to go to Ipswich on Sunday which is going to be a tough game because we want to secure that, keep going and keep winning matches in the Premier League and also focus on this competition."

Reacting on social media, fans were adamant that Rice stopped himself mid-sentence.

One fan said: "Rice had to stop himself from saying “we have to secure that 2nd place in the prem"."

Another tweeted: "Rice was about to say secure that second place."

A third fan added: "Rice nearly said “go to Ipswich and secure that….” SECOND PLACE IS WHAT YOU MEANT BOYYYY."

Someone else wrote: "Rice nearly slipped and said "we wanna secure that 2nd place in the league"."

After coming second in back-to-back seasons to Manchester City, the Gunners were tipped to finally win the Premier League this season.

With City suffering a drastic drop in form, all things pointed to Arteta leading Arsenal to domestic glory.

However, Arne Slot's Liverpool look likely to be the champions as they only require six points from their remaining matches to secure a 20th top flight title.

In truth, Arsenal's title bid was slightly hampered by injuries suffered by the likes of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz across different parts of the season.

The Gunners will be back in action this Sunday when they take on relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.
