Strange Scenes In Marseille Vs Manchester City As Home Side Don't Take A Knee

Marseille players did not take a knee in their Champions League clash with Manchester City on Tuesday evening - but they stood and watched the Premier League side do so.

Players, coaches and other staff in stadiums across English football have taken a knee since football returned in June to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Get French Football News have revealed the gesture hasn't been adopted in France and City players took a knee before kick-off at the Orange Velodrome.

Marseille players remained stood together and waited for City players to get up before starting the game.

It has also been rumoured the players opted for a one minute's silence in memory of Samuel Paty - a teacher murdered in a terrorist attack last week.

Despite the explanation, fans online were still upset at seeing Marseille not take a knee in solidarity with their opponents.
