FIFA 21 Players Think EA Sports Have Started To Secretly 'Nerf' Ultimate Team Cards

Ultimate Team players have started discussing the topic online.

FIFA 21 players have been debating if EA Sports purposely 'nerf' Ultimate Team cards to make more money from packs.

The latest edition of the hit football franchise has seen a number of gameplay tweaks made this year to facilitate a move to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Most instalments see numerous updates throughout the year - but do some players actually start to get worse?

Per Dexerto, members of r/FIFA have developed a theory that players gradually decline in-game to keep the game's economy flowing with new promos and cards.

"Do you think EA actually nerf players or its simply inconsistent gameplay?" the thread begins.

"[Romain] Alessandrini has been in my team for 3 weeks and has become my second favourite attacker (Kylian Mbappe first) I hit the post with him 23 times in 18 games of champs, he is normally very clinical and I have no issue."

Another user then replied and used the example of Joao Felix, who was used in the game's promotional material, to show that players do get worse.

"Have been scored by a finesse of Alessandrini played as a CAM, means like 2-3 chemistry, while my 10 chem Alessandrini hits the bar more often than not, so yes, I think so," they added.

"Felix used to be decent at the start, very good after I got used to him and now he is worse than at the start. I m an average player btw."

Some aren't as convinced when it comes to a full-on 'nerf' however and think it's just natural form.

"Players seem to drift in and out of form rather than straight nerf for good," they argued. "My potm Son went average for a good week but seems back on it today."

This year's game has also seen the scripting debate reignite, with multiple videos discussing the saga being uploaded to YouTube.

Leemrr has uploaded a compilation of footage where fans have tried to 'prove' that FIFA is scripted.

EA Sports has always denied the existence of scripting, even going as far as to respond to one fan questioning if it had been removed for FIFA 21.

However, fans remain adamant that scripting exists and it is affecting how matches are played out.

Do you think players are purposely 'nerfed' in FIFA 21?
