The race for Marcus Rashford's signature has taken a new twist as one club pulls out of a move for the Manchester United man.

After a solid loan spell at Aston Villa during the second half of the 24/25 season, Rashford has been linked with a move away from United.

So far this summer, the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in the 27-year-old.

Rashford's United career has looked all but over since he was left out of the squad for the Manchester derby alongside Alejandro Garnacho prior to his loan move to Villa Park.

Ruben Amorim even claimed he would rather play the club's 63-year-old goalkeeper coach than the England international last season despite disastrous results on the pitch.

After returning to Carrington this week Rashford has seen his number 10 shirt handed to new signing Matheus Cunha, all but confirming he will depart this summer.

However, Rashford's options are becoming more limited by the day with one club backing out of the race for the 27-year-old.

Jose Mourinho rules out Marcus Rashford

According to reports via MARCA Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out the signing of Rashford despite interest from the Turkish club.

It is believed that Rashford's 18 million euro salary paired with his sole desire of a move to Barcelona has put Mourinho off the idea of a reunion with his former player.

Speaking in 2019 Mourinho heaped praise on Rashford's attitude, which is the very thing Amorim appears to have such a problem with.

“Marcus is a fantastic boy," he said via GOAL.

"He is also very grounded and, for sure, we love him, and we believe in him and he’s going to have the chances to keep developing.”

Barcelona 'all in' for Marcus Rashford

Despite the new season approaching in rapid time, it seems Rashford could get his dream move to Catalonia after all following reports from Sky Sports Germany.

The report claims that following a failure to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, Rashford is now Barcelona's clear left-wing target.

While Rashford remains at United he is not expected to feature in any of Amorim's pre-season plans due to potential injury concerns.

Sports lawyer Chris Farnell told the Daily Mail: "Both sides are keeping their negotiating position as strong as possible, and treading carefully so as not to be in breach of contract. It's a calculated move by the club.

"The players haven't been excluded. The club are currently not taking a risk," he added.
