Donald Trump is set to attend the FIFA Club World Cup final and it could cost the US taxpayer thousands of dollars.

Following their dominant 4-0 win over Real Madrid at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain booked their spot in the upcoming Club World Cup final.

PSG will face Chelsea, after the Premier League side secured a place in the final with a 2-0 win over Brazilian team Fluminense.

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea will both return to the MetLife Stadium for the final on Sunday, with thousands of fans set to attend, including US President Trump.

Throughout his second term as President of the United States, Trump has regularly been spotted attending some of the biggest sporting events across America.

Just last month, the 79-year-old sat cageside alongside Dana White for the UFC 316 card taking place at at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey.

Throughout the evening, several of the fighters celebrated their wins with the President, including women's bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, who decided to wrap her UFC belt around Trump's waist.

Although it is not known exactly how much Trump's night watching the UFC cost, it is estimated that the cost of his security combined with other factors would have chalked up to a bill worth around $250,000.

And it is likely that Trump's appearance at the Club World Cup final, which is set to take place just nine miles away from the Prudential Center, will cost the US taxpayer a similar amount.

This figure is based on federal records released regarding the Secret Service agents that protect Trump during his trips outside the White House - like his regular and costly golf trips.

Back in November 2019, Trump attended UFC 244 visit in New York City - which was headlined by Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz, with the US government paying $224,212 on hotel rooms for the Secret Service, according to The Daily Mail.

Another $22,005.51 was said to have been spent on travel expenses to allow agents to travel in and out of the city, according to receipts.

The Secret Service also spent $6,350 on 'tents' for security checkpoints to set up near Trump Tower, where he stayed overnight after the event.

The entire trip to the Big Apple is believed to have cost $252,567.51.
