Rebekah Vardy sends Jamie O'Hara five-word message after hearing what he said about husband Jamie on talkSPORT

Rebekah Vardy has hit out.

Rebekah Vardy has responded to Jamie O'Hara after the former Spurs man criticised Jamie Vardy during a section of his show on talkSPORT.

Vardy is on the lookout for a new challenge after his 13-year spell at Leicester City which saw him lift the Premier League in 2016.

The 38-year-old who scored his 200th goal in his 500th and final appearances for the Foxes, has since been linked with a host of clubs, including Wrexham, Wolves, and former side Sheffield Wednesday.

However, one of the more notable links has been to Ruben Amorim's Manchester United with The Athletic reporting he has been offered to the Reds.

What Jamie O'Hara said about Jamie Vardy

Following the reports, the topic was discussed on talkSPORT with O'Hara and Jason Cundy, and the former was far from impressed with United's links to the striker.

"Listen, Jamie Vardy, you can't get away from the fact he scored a lot of Premier League goals, and he's worth a punt," O'Hara began.

"It is a bit embarrassing for Man United right now, the fact that they are looking at these players. Don't get me wrong. He should be back up, shouldn't he?

O'Hara, who is the same age as Vardy, did admit he would take the former Leicester man at his own club Spurs following their deals for Morgan Gibbs-White and Mohammed Kudus.

"I tell you what, I'd have Jamie Vardy at Tottenham come off the bench, make things happen, might start some games if he scores goals," he explained.

However, he doubled down that the veteran would be an 'embarrassing' first choice for Amorim's side.

He added: "But to have him and being talked about the fact that they're having to look at him to come in because he can't get a striker, it's embarrassing for Man United. It is embarrassing."

Rebekah Vardy's response

Following O'Hara's initial rant dividing the opinion of fans online, the topic was once again discussed on Friday's show.

"It is embarrassing. I actually did say, you know, Vardy would be a good punt, right?" O'Hara said defending his opinion.

The 38-year-old radio host then revealed Vardy's wife, who is often in the headlines herself, messaged him to call out the criticism of her husband.

"I got a message today from Vardy's wife," he revealed.

"We have a bit of banter, to be fair she messaged me and went, you talking garbage again? So she listens?

"So she listens. I went, well, you know, I just said that was a good punt," he insisted.

It is likely to become clear in the coming weeks where the free agent's future lies, with reports emerging of a potential move to La Liga side Valencia.

Speaking at the end of the season, Vardy himself insisted he still has the desire and ability to play at the highest level.

“I’ll keep going until my legs tell me I need to stop. My legs are fine," he confirmed.

“I’m doing a sport that I love, it’s what I’ve done since I was a little kid so long may that continue.”
