Liverpool's 'discreet' Alexander Isak plan emerges as stunning update given in transfer saga

Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool will reportedly act discreetly as their plan to buy a new striker emerges, having been linked with Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

So far this summer, the Reds have been busy in the transfer window. They have already signed the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.

Meanwhile, players like Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Marc Guehi and Viktor Gyokeres have all been linked with a move to Anfield.

Over the last few weeks, it has been widely claimed that Liverpool's dream target is Newcastle star Isak, who managed 27 goals in 42 matches during the 24/25 season.

However, it has been well-documented that the Magpies are not willing to do business, and it would take a bid of more than £150 million just to open discussions.

Speaking on The United Stand recently, journalist Ben Jacobs spoke about Liverpool's plans.

He stated that the Reds are waiting to see if the Isak door would be completely shut in the coming weeks, before making a 'discreet' move for Eintracht Frankfurt's Ekitike.

Ekitike, 23, is one of the most highly rated strikers in Europe, having scored 22 goals and assisted a further 12 in 48 matches across all competitions.

Jacobs said: "I think what will happen with (Hugo) Ekitike is if Liverpool find out in the next days or weeks that the door is totally shut on Alexander Isak, that's what I sense they are waiting for.

"Then, they will turn their attention to Hugo Ekitike and they will do it discreetly. In the meantime, we will hear a lot of noise about Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal if they don't get Viktor Gyokeres."

He added: "But I'm not so sure things are advanced with any of those clubs, the price tag would have to drop significantly for Hugo Ekitike if Manchester United are to enter the race."

In terms of outgoings, Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have been linked with a move away along with the likes of Harvey Elliott and Ibrahima Konate.
