Luis Diaz has reportedly handed in a transfer request as he continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool.

During the 24/25 season, Diaz recorded 17 goals and eight assists for Liverpool as the Reds clinched a 20th top flight title.

Despite a promising end to the campaign, the winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.

So far this summer, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and clubs in Saudi Arabia have reportedly shown interest in signing the 28-year-old.

However, it has also been suggested that Liverpool are not actively looking to sell Diaz unless a big offer comes and that he remains a part of Arne Slot's plans for the new campaign.

On Thursday morning, it was claimed by Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg that Diaz had handed in a transfer request.

He wrote on social media: "BREAKING | Diaz submits transfer request! New Eberl talks! Luis Díaz has made it clear again, according to Sky-info, that he is open to leaving FC Liverpool should a really exciting offer come.

"LFC was informed about this. However, they have blocked everything so far (Bayern, Barcelona, etc.) Max Eberl has again held talks with the management of Diaz in the past few days (after Monday's broadcast). According to reports, the Bavarians are sticking to Diaz."

Plettenberg added: "However, there are still no agreements or offers. It's complicated, but the Bavarians are still trying, but are also checking other options.

"Even more details and the arrangements on the latest Bavarian rumors will be available on Friday in Transfer Update - the show."

Amid the rumours linking Diaz to Barcelona, the Colombian has reportedly made a contractual demand to the Catalan club.

Luis Diaz 'demands' Barcelona contract clause

As reported by Spanish news outlet AS, Diaz's representatives have been in talks with Barcelona over a draft contract just in case a deal could be done with Liverpool.

It has been suggested that Barcelona's ongoing financial struggles were mentioned during the meetings, especially after the club had trouble registering the likes of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The report stated that Nico Williams wanted a release clause in his Barcelona contract, which would've allowed him to leave for free if Barcelona were unable to register him.

However, the young winger eventually decided to stay with Athletic Club.

Although Diaz opted against a similar clause, it has been said that the Colombian had demanded compensation in the event that he could not be registered by August 1.

This will mean that Diaz remains at the club but would receive a financial compensation if he was unable to play for a long period.
