Fans react to 'agenda' following release of nationalities of the match officials for Morocco vs Portugal

Fans react to 'agenda' following release of nationalities of the match officials for Morocco vs Portugal

Portugal suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Morocco in the World Cup on Saturday.

Fans are reacting the reveal of the nationalities of the match officials for the World Cup quarter-final involving Morocco and Portugal.

In another shocking twist to the tournament in Qatar, Morocco knocked Portugal out of the World Cup in a stunning 1-0 win on Saturday.

Morocco have been the surprise package and shocked everyone by reaching the final eight, whilst Portugal have dazzled throughout and came into the game as favourites to reach the semi-finals.

But fans have pointed to the nationalities of the match officials, with some already claiming that game is 'rigged' ahead of kick-off at the Al-Thumama Stadium.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that there is an abundance of Argentinian elected match officials, with many believing there could be an agenda where they lean towards Morocco, in the hope of casting out long-time Lionel Messi rival Cristiano Ronaldo from the tournament.

With the 'agenda' that fans believe to be true, it is extremely suspect that there are five Argentinian officials across the eight match official spots.

One fan tweeted his dismay: So the Referees for the Portugal and Morocco Game are from Argentina, The agenda is clear now"

Another took a shot at the Ronaldo fanboys: "Ronaldo fans already with the excuses."

Whilst another concluded: "Morocco is going through."

Whilst searching a little deeper, some fans may remember that the referee Facundo Tello was responsible for dishing out no fewer than a record 10 red cards in a single game earlier this year.

The incredible feat took place during Argentina’s Trophy of Champions Final, which saw Racing Club secure a wild 2-1 win over Boca Juniors.

Whereas fans may be worried about a potential bias towards Morocco, perhaps they need to worry about his potential to match or better the performance from Mateu Lahoz's exploits during Argentina's win last night that saw him brandish 15 yellow cards, plus two during the penalty shootout.

Morocco are the surprise package in this year's tournament, having come through a tough group that included Canada, Belgium and semi-finalists Croatia.

They then took out Spain on penalties and come into this game with the best defensive record at the World Cup, having conceded just the one goal so far.

However, Portugal came into the game following perhaps the best team performance of the competition so far, having swept aside a tough Switzerland side 6-1 in the Round of 16.

Ronaldo was on the bench once again due to the exploits of Goncalo Ramos, who announced himself on the world stage with a brilliant hattrick last time out.

We hope after all this that the game isn't settled by a dodgy decision from the referee or the VAR team that could sour this brilliant World Cup that we're all experiencing.
