Ben Foster 'has made a decision on his Wrexham future' ahead of League Two campaign

Ben Foster has reportedly made a decision on his Wrexham future ahead of the upcoming League Two campaign.

The 40-year-old former Manchester United and Watford goalkeeper, who came out of retirement in March to play for Phil Parkinson's side, helped the Dragons achieve automatic promotion to League Two.

Foster made a total of seven National League appearances for Wrexham this season, and after their title-winning victory over Boreham Wood, it looked like the experienced shot-stopper hinted at a permanent stay.

He responded to co-owner Ryan Reynolds after the full-time whistle by saying, "We'll do it again next year."

Reynolds replied: "Yes! Alright, that's a contract. He said, 'we'll do it again next year' and that's it - done. You just verbally signed!"

Over a month later and it appears Foster has decided to to sign a new deal at The Racecourse Ground, according to TEAMtalk, who suggest an agreement is imminent.

Phil Parkinson is said to be 'keen' to keep Foster around, with his experience seen as a crucial component as the Welsh side try and secure promotion from League Two next season.

In fact, owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are thought to be expecting a promotion sequel following last season's unprecedented success.

Parkinson, meanwhile, will be provided with a wage bill that will 'almost double' most of their rivals, according to the Daily Mail.

Last week, Foster said Wrexham can go on and achieve a second consecutive promotion in the coming months.

"I think we'll do alright, I really do," he said on The Fellas podcast.

"That first day of training when I got to see them, I thought 'ooh, there's no way you're National League'. I genuinely thought they'd do alright in League One, and maybe even in the Championship they'd hold their own.

"Wrexham last season beat Coventry in the FA Cup, held Sheffield United to a 3-3 draw and they scored a last-minute equaliser, and they only just narrowly lost in the reverse fixture as well. So they know how to play these types of players and they will step up their game when they need to.

"I've already seen a stat that says Wrexham are favourites to get promoted already. We've just been promoted, and now we're favourites to go up again. I'd back that as well... I'd back that because they're ballers."

Thoughts on Foster reportedly signing a new deal at Wrexham? Can they secure another promotion?
