Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac broke a Wrexham transfer 'rule' for two players during their time in charge.

Wrexham have achieved three consecutive promotions under the ownership of Hollywood duo Reynolds and Mac.

They have skyrocketed from the National League to the Championship in three years as the club dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Reynolds and Mac are not involved in the day-to-day running of Wrexham due to their demanding work schedules and an appreciation to leaving the club in expert hands who have experience of the industry.

But the pair remain across every facet of the club's affairs, including transfers.

Wrexham splashed the cash last summer, signing the likes of Conor Coady, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead, who cost a club-record fee which could eventually reach £10 million.

Luring players to the Racecourse Ground was an easy sell given the status of the club, but that wasn't always the case.

When Wrexham were in the National League, they had to really sell the club's long-term project, with Reynolds and Mac even speaking to players during negotiations rather than after the deal was done.

Reynolds and Mac got involved in the signings of Paul Mullins and Elliot Lee.

In a report from The Athletic, Phil Parkinson explained: "In the early National League days, we had to really sell the vision of the club."

Wrexham boss Parkinson added: "Occasionally, Rob and Ryan would be brought in to have a chat. They did that with Mulls (Mullin) at the start. Same with Elliot Lee (a year later).

"Don’t forget, there had been no documentary at this stage. No promotion (to the EFL) and it was quite a hard sell. We were a National League club and we had to work really, really hard to bring Elliot Lee, Mulls and others to the club.

"Football has had a lot of clubs who talk big and tell you a great story only for nothing to come to fruition. So, players, agents, their families wanted to speak to us to know we were serious."

Mullins signed for Wrexham from Cambridge United while Lee joined from Luton Town.
