'Nobody believed me anyway': Tyson Fury admits he got 'bored of retirement'

The undefeated champion has been angling for a huge return fight and jokes that fans didn't believe he would hang up the gloves.

Tyson Fury has made the rather strange admission that he thought nobody actually believed he was retired from boxing.

The 'Gypsy King' also claimed he quickly got ‘bored’ of being out of the ring too.

Now that the WBC heavyweight champ is angling for a huge bout with Anthony Joshua, he’s decided he can let the cat out of the bag: there was absolutely no chance that he was ever going to stay retired.

Earlier this week, Fury called out Anthony Joshua - a matchup that has been eagerly-anticipated by the boxing world for years.

That match-up would undoubtedly be up there as one of the biggest bouts in British boxing history.

It would also be the first major fight since Fury announced his shock ‘retirement’ after defeating Dillian Whyte back in April at Wembley.

It was the sort of announcement that plenty found odd considering how many dream fights were still on the table for the undefeated legend.

Well, now the heavyweight champ has admitted something that many fans had theorised would happen – that we would grow tired of sitting on the sidelines pretty quickly.

Speaking to The Ring, Fury said: “I got bored with retirement.

"I had five months out the ring and changed my mind. Nobody believed me anyway, did they?

"It was great. But nothing will ever compare with being heavyweight champion of the world.

"I love boxing. I absolutely adore it."

That passion is clear to see with Fury angling for a return fight left, right and centre.

Fury took to social media earlier this week to lay out his plans for the potential fight.

He said: "Yo @anthonyjoshua what you saying big G let’s give the fanz what they want as Usyk is bi**ing???

"I got the date and venue who will rule Britannia?"

AJ, ever the businessman, decided it was time to stop the talk and make it happen.

Joshua replied: "Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your really about it shout @258mgt.

"I’ll be ready in December. Khalas."

Joshua is fresh off a massive defeat to Ukrainian fighter Oleksandr Usyk, in only his third professional loss in his career.

On the other hand, Fury remains undefeated and feels that he would most definitely be the favourite for the bout.

He added: "He would be a massive underdog, so he's in a win-win situation.

"If everyone expects him to lose and he beats me, then he's back on top and bigger than ever.

"And if he's lost three, what difference does it make if he loses four?

"Four losses means nothing. Look at Derek Chisora, he’s had 12 losses and he’s still battling away."
