Deontay Wilder Accepts Anthony Joshua's Challenge For Heavyweight Title Bout

It's a match fans have been clamouring for, for a while

We're a step closer to getting Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder slugging it out in a heavyweight title clash.

After his victory over Joseph Parker in Cardiff on Saturday, a win that brought him a fourth world title belt, Joshua seemingly called out Wilder, saying: "Wilder, let's go baby! Let's go!"

And when asked if he'd go to America to face Wilder, he responded: "We can do it in London, Wembley. We're staying right here. Wilder or Tyson Fury next, either one. What would I have to do to beat Wilder? Get him in the ring and knock him spark out."

And it seems like the WBC champ is down for the challenge, as per his co-manager Shelly Finkel.

"We are really glad that Anthony Joshua said for the first time 'I will fight Deontay next...' and we believe he is a man of his word. Deontay accepts the challenge," Finkel told The Telegraph.

Wilder, who improved his record to 40-0 when he knocked out Luis Ortiz a couple of weeks back, is also keen on meeting Joshua's request of having the match in the UK, as opposed to the United States.

"We want to make it public that Deontay wants the fight, and we are prepared to come over, or meet here and get the deal done. Deontay is ready to sign and come to the UK to fight this summer."

Finkel says he, along with Al Haymon, the other co-manager, will be in touch with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing as they look to get a deal signed for the mega-bout.

Wilder is said to be content with a 60-40 split on the fight purse and it's looking like it will all go down in the summer.

"Let's do it. And anyway, unification fights always trump mandatories. A unification between Wilder and Joshua would push the mandatories back," Finkel added.

"Assuming it will be Wembley Stadium in the summer, we are ready, and if they are ready as they say they are, we want to get it done. We want the fight, they want the fight, the public wants the fight. There is nothing to stop it going ahead."
