Referee asked Jake Paul 'do you want to fight' as he held on to Tommy Fury

Referee asked Jake Paul 'do you want to fight' as he held on to Tommy Fury

Paul lost for the first time in his professional career, as long-time rival Fury got the better of him, and the referee wasn't impressed.

Jake Paul was asked by the referee if he wanted to fight, during his loss to Tommy Fury, after a series of holding on to his opponent.

It's time that everyone admitted that the fight on Sunday night was not a good one, between two pretty woeful boxers, with more clinching than fighting.

Fury came out on top after eight rounds of rubbish boxing, despite the fact that he suffered a flash knockdown late in the fight, that earned his opponent a 10-8 round.

Carl Froch called it right, saying the American got 'obliterated' by a novice boxer but Fury's own brother, Tyson, expected more from the former Lover Islander.

A good boxer would have earned an early finish, although it was definitely made more difficult by the 'Problem Child' trying to hold as much as possible, and losing a point for it.

In one moment, the ref, who was heavily criticised on social media, even asked him if he actually wanted to fight, which you can see in the video below.

Despite the fact it was clear for most, especially Froch, to see that the former Disney Channel star had been well beaten, he didn't see it that way.

As well as the knockdown, Fury also saw his opponent docked a point during a round, making him believe he should have been given the decision on the judges scoring.

"I’ll come back. I think we deserve that rematch. It was a great fight, a close fight.

"I don’t know if I agree with the judges. I got a 10-8 round twice, so it is what it is. This is boxing.

"Look, I’ve already won in life man, I’ve already won in every single way. I have an amazing family, amazing friends, amazing work ethic and I’ve made further than I ever thought that I would and beyond.

"This is definitely a humbling experience. I’ll take it on the chin, get back in the gym and we can run it back because I think we put on an amazing show for the fans tonight."

Despite claiming he didn't want to make any excuses for the first professional loss, which coincided with the first time he fought an actual boxer, he did list a load, including being ill.

It would surprise no one if there was a rematch between the pair, considering they were set to make millions from the fight, which really wasn't worth it considering the quality.

At least those who watched it had the enjoyment of Ilunga Makabu vs Badou Jack prior to the main event, for an actual world title belt!
