Anthony Joshua's driver is reportedly set to face charges after being involved in the horror accident that left two people dead.

On Monday, it was reported that Joshua was involved in a car accident in Nigeria.

The crash happened at around 11 am local time on Monday, when the vehicle Joshua was travelling in struck a stationary truck on an expressway in Ogun State, near Lagos - the nation’s largest city.

It was claimed that Joshua suffered minor injury, but two of his friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, died.

Ghami had acted as a strength and conditioning coach for AJ, while Ayodele had been a trainer in the boxer’s camp. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, a recent report by The Sun has claimed that the driver who was driving the vehicle carrying Joshua and his friends has been discharged from the hospital.

After giving a statement to the police, it has been claimed that local media outlets have reported that the driver could face prosecution for reckless driving.

It is believed that the vehicle carrying Joshua and his friends suffered a tyre blowout during a high-speed overtake and crashed into the stationary truck.

A source told The Sun: "Preliminary reports indicate the driver exceeded speed limits and overtook dangerously before the crash.

"These are serious offences under Nigerian law and can attract criminal liability if fatalities are involved.“

Meanwhile, the Ogun state government said in a statement: "Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos.

"Following comprehensive clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency medical intervention at this time. A full medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely."

Joshua's promoter said: "Anthony is in a stable condition and will remain there for observation."
