Former WWE Star Opens Up on Money Struggles As Contract Ends

The former WWE star took to X to post a statement about his situation and difficulties providing for his family following his exit.

A WWE star has revealed he is worries about struggling to pay bills while injured ahead of his official release from the company.

Ridge Holland, real name Luke Menzies, was told he would not be getting a new contract with the sports entertainment giants when it expired in October.

His seven-year stint in WWE will officially come to an end on November 14 when he becomes a free agent.

The former rugby league player returned to developmental brand NXT in recent times and made an appearance on partner TNA in September.

But it was there that he suffered a broken foot which has left him out on the sidelines for an extended period and coincided with his release.

The former NXT tag team has therefore been left in limbo as despite WWE covering the costs of his surgery and subsequent rebab but his guaranteed pay will soon stop and has left Holland feeling as though he has been "hung out to dry" and is now "totally f***ed".

In a furious statement posted on his social media pages, Holland wrote: “I never thought I’d not be able to pay my mortgage.

"I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE. Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal.

"Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company.

"Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too. Talk about getting totally f***ed.”

In an earlier post announcing his release, Holland had feared he would not be able to support his family of five and found the ordeal "quite frustrating".

His statement was inundated by supportive comments from his peers as he confirmed he would be launching his own coaching business to help bring in income.

Menzies also revealed that he is now official open for media and signings bookings "effective immediately" as he looks to fill up his calendar.

The 37-year-old's earnings from WWE are not known but after reports claimed his earnings were around $2.5 million following a salary that was initially $400,000 per year annually, he confirmed that it was in fact not the case.
