John Cena made a bombshell announcement regarding his final ever WWE opponent.

During Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE dropped a sneak peak at footage of an exclusive Cena interview, in which the 48-year-old hints at his final ever opponent.

“On my last day, I wanna face whoever is willing to step up and seize the same kind of opportunity I was given on my first day,” he said, referring to when he challenged Kurt Angle on SmackDown back in 2002.

Cena then announced that from Monday, there would be a 16-man tournament to determine his final opponent, contested between competitors from Raw, Smackdown and NXT, while he hinted at the potential involvement of fighters from Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

“There will be stars with whom I have storied history, but even more than a generation of talent that I have never gone one-on-one with in my life,” Cena said.

He finished the interview with his catchphrase: “You want some? Come get some.”

Cena will feature in this month’s Raw shows in New York City, as well as the Survivor Series: War Games before fighting in his final ever match as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event” on Saturday, December 13.

Cena officially announced his retirement from in-ring competition in July 2024, but has been on a farewell tour throughout 2025.

He is often regarded among the greatest wrestlers of all time, having achieved world champion status some 17 times since joining WWE in 2001.

Cena made his acting debut in 2006 when he starred in The Marine, and went on to feature in a spate of big budget films, including The Suicide Squad, Fast & Furious 9 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

He has been with the WWE part-time since 2018, when his acting career took off.

Cena is also the all-time most requested celebrity by kids with charity Make-A-Wish, and holds the Guinness World Records for the number of wishes granted to Make-A-Wish children who have critical illnesses.
