AJ Styles reveals brand-new job in WWE after working with two of the company's top talents

AJ Styles has revealed his latest new job working with WWE after retiring from professional wrestling earlier this year.

Styles retired after losing to Gunther via submission at the 2026 Royal Rumble event, and was inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame in April.

'The Phenomenal One' signed a new contract with WWE following his retirement to work in a talent development role, primarily with the company's NXT brand.

Styles only ever had two matches on NXT during his WWE career as he was immediately placed on the main roster after signing in 2016.

But he has been supporting some of the company's top up-and-coming talent with their development.

The 49-year-old has now revealed that his role has changed, with Styles now working as a match producer.

He co-produced, alongside NXT trainer Johnny Moss, the main event of Tuesday's NXT show between NXT Women's Champion Kendal Grey and Lola Vice.

It was fought under the Underground stipulation, where there are no ring ropes or disqualifications and other wrestlers surround the ring.

Speaking on the newest edition of the 'AJ Styles Show', Styles described Grey and Vice as 'unbelievable' and gave an insight into what went into co-producing his first WWE match.

"There were two of us, two producers in that match - Moss and myself," he began.

"There's not much you need to do in a match like this, because these girls are so good. But if you watch it, there are some sprinkles of AJ Styles in there that you'll go, 'Oh yeah, that makes sense'.

"But the truth is, Moss and I didn't have to do very much because they are so good at what they do. Just the way they do certain things is just unbelievable.

"This match that they had, whoever came up with it and put them in it, perfect. They're so good."

NXT's women's division has come in for high acclaim, particularly over recent years, with a number of top talents earning promotions to the main roster.

Former MMA fighter Vice - real name Valerie Loureda - is expected to be the latest to make the step up after three-and-a-half years on the developmental brand.

WWE have reportedly decided to trademark 'Vice City', which is the catchphrase she has used throughout her time on NXT.

Vice City is also the fictional setting for Grand Theft Auto 6, having previously been used for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002.

But it is claimed that there should not be a conflict between WWE and Rockstar Games, with WWE filing the trademark specifically for wrestling and live entertainment rather than video games.

Where it could cause an issue is in the yearly WWE 2K game franchise, where Vice's catchphrase may not be able to be used in her entrance video or in commentary lines.

"I always had a vision of Miami Vice because I am the first Cuban American woman [in WWE] and I was born and raised in Miami," she said of her name choice in 2022.

"I feel like that's me and I need to represent, how can I do this, and incorporate it into my name. I thought about Miami Vice and said, how about Lola Vice?"
