WWE fans are convinced they know who Gunther will retire next after defeating John Cena in his retirement match.

Cena lost to Gunther in the final match of his iconic WWE career at Saturday Night's Main Event in Washington, D.C.

He was forced to tap to Gunther's sleeper hold, stunning the wrestling community.

The controversial result angered fans inside the Capital One Arena as they booed Gunther and WWE personnel.

'The Ring General' caught more heat when he made his way to the ring on the latest edition of WWE Raw in what was his first appearance since beating Cena.

He cut a promo about ending the 48-year-old's legendary career.

Gunther's victory over Cena marked the end of his WWE tenure and it seems another legend could be following him soon.

As Gunther departed the arena and made his way to his car, he came face-to-face with AJ Styles, who plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2026.

They locked eyes in an intense exchange before Gunther got in his car.

But, before driving off, he taunted Styles with Cena's signature 'You Can't See Me' hand gesture - seemingly making it clear that he's coming for 'The Phenomenal One' next.

Needless to say, the moment between Gunther and Styles got WWE fans on social media speculating about a future match.

One X user wrote: "Gunther gonna spend rest of his career just retiring dudes? Lmaoooo."

A second said: "The Legacy of Gunther .... making the greats tap into retirement?"

A third added: "WWE is directly telling you guys who’s Gunther retiring next."

The Styles vs. Gunther seed has been planted ahead of a blockbuster clash for the WWE star's retirement tour in 2026.

AJ Styles confirms WWE retirement

Styles, 48, is still performing at an elite level and is one-half of the current World Tag Team Champions with Dragon Lee.

But he cited his age when discussing his retirement plans.

"I’m getting old, folks," he said. "Listen, if I could find the fountain of youth and take a couple of sips, I’d wrestle for the rest of my life. But you know, I am getting older, and the fear of embarrassing myself is getting closer...

"There comes a time in a man’s life when he has to take care of business, but when business is done, it’s time to take care of his family. I need to spend time with my family. In 2026, I will retire."
