John Cena's last ever WWE opponent has been leaked and it's the perfect ending for the 17-time champion

The WWE legend is set to compete in his last-ever wrestling match in December.

John Cena's final WWE matchup has leaked online ahead of his retirement, and it makes perfect sense.

Just over a year ago, WWE legend Cena, who is regarded by many as the greatest wrestler of all time, announced that he would be retiring at the end of 2025.

Since then, the 48-year-old has been on a retirement tour across the world, competing in some of the biggest events on the WWE calendar.

His crowning moment in his final year came at Wrestlemania in April as he defeated undisputed champion Cody Rhodes to become the undisputed world champion for a record-breaking 17th time.

In the build-up to his final match in December, many fans have speculated who will face off against Cena as he signs off on a storied career, and we may now finally know.

When considering who could face Cena in his final match, several options come to mind including the likes of the rematch with Rhodes, a grudge match with former foe Dwayne Johnson or even a face-off with influencer turned wrestler Logan Paul.

But, according to WRKD Wrestling, it will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther that will be Cena's final opponent.

Given the fact that both men currently hold titles, the news suggests that one of them are likely to lose their belts before they face off in December.

And with Gunther well and truly established as a heel within the WWE, the matchup would also suggest that Cena will drop the bad guy act that he started in a shocking turn of events following this year's Elimination Chamber.

Explaining his decision to retire ahead of his historic win over Rhodes at Wrestlemania, Cena told ESPN: “I’ve had a whole lot of time to think about this.

"I kind of weaned off a full-time schedule in 2017. It’s 2025. So we’re talking over a half decade to contemplate like, ‘Oh man, this is this is kind of where it’s at.’

"I also made a cemented promise, even in my 20s to the audience, ‘When I am a step slow, I am out the door.’

"Like understand when your run is over and just bow out gracefully. I feel that I’m a step slow. I’m there.”
