ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ returned for its 25th season on Sunday (November 16) with several high-profile names in camp—but there may be a few ‘secrets’ you didn’t know about the program.

The ten campmates are currently adjusting to life in the New South Wales bush, which is a far cry from the cold, grey weather in the UK right now.

On Wednesday (November 19), temperatures in the state reached up to 29 degrees celsius, but like the UK, the area also experiences its fair share of rainfall, which may make the contestants feel slightly more at home.

The campmates, who come from all walks of life, are already beginning to work together as a team and have started opening up about their personal lives, even though they have only known each other for less than a week.

Football content creator Angry Ginge – real name Morgan Burtwistle – has already seemingly impressed the British public with his quick wit, having taken part in an eating challenge during which he was tasked with munching on camel toe, a pig’s testicle, crocodile's anus, snails, a witchetty grub, cockroaches and mealworms alongside American comedian Ruby Wax.

Former England footballer Alex Scott is also taking part, as well as popular Manchester singer Aitch.

Aside from the Bushtucker Trials, the show, filmed at the Springbrook National Park near the Queensland border, comes with several other challenges – namely sleeping in the Aussie jungle, meaning campmates are open to the elements and creatures that live there.

Although Tweed Shire Council lists the National Park as a “lowland subtropical rainforest” rather than an actual jungle.

And one insider reportedly told the Mail that some adjustments are made to the camp, which shields participants from the at times torrential rain.

If you’ve ever wondered how the lowering of the food works, then there’s finally an explanation.

The camp has a ‘secret roof’ above it to help shield the campmates and recording equipment from the weather.

According to the Mail, the roof is a 50-foot canopy which allows the campfire to stay lit. However, the roof does not completely cover the whole of the camp and is susceptible to leaks when the rain is heavy.

“A lot of the camp is not under shelter — it's not like the roof at Wimbledon!” an insider told the Mail.

Previous contestant Allison Hammond confirmed that there is, in fact, a shelter when she spoke on the ‘Saving Grace’ podcast back in 2022.

“No, you can't [sunbathe],” Hammond said.

“There's trees everywhere, and also they've got this canopy for lighting.

“You feel like you're on a camping film set, but you can't see the cameras."
