Ex-‘I’m A Celeb’ Contestant Claims ITV Have Changed Rule Thanks to Angry Ginge

The former contestant has spoken out about Angry Ginge's appearance on the popular ITV series.

A former contestant on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here has claimed that ITV changed the rules ahead of Angry Ginge appearing on the show.

As is festive tradition, popular ITV reality series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here returned to our television screens last week with 10 celebrities travelling to the Australian jungle to film the 25th season.

Former England international and pundit Alex Scott and YouTube and Twitch star Angry Ginge, who has taken part in Soccer Aid and is a manager in the Baller League, are among the stars taking part this year.

Since his arrival in Australia, Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, has quickly become the most popular contestant, establishing himself as an early favouring to become king of the jungle.

But according to one celebrity who appeared on a previous season, Ginge's popularity has forced ITV to make a major change to the official rules for the show.

Shortly after making his way to the I'm a Celeb camp, Ginge was nominated by the public to take part in the first bushtucker trial of the 2025 series alongside American-British actress Ruby Wax.

The pair secured all 10 stars in the trial, which saw them eating various jungle delicacies including ox tongue and crocodile anus, meaning their campmates all received a full meal that evening.

However, Ginge is yet to take part in another trial this season, no doubt partly due to a new rule introduced by ITV bosses which means individual contestants cannot be voted by the public to do the brutal challenges for several days in a row

The rule means that celebrities can only do two in a row before being made to miss out on one, with the reason seemingly being to "give all campmates the opportunity to shine".

But, according to former campmate Nicola McLean, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity in 2008, this decison may actually have been made due to the popularity of Ginge, who has over 1.4 million followers on streaming platform Twitch.

Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, Nicola said of the rule change: "There's like two minds for me.

"One mind, I think it's good because we get to see different people but then in another mind it's really funny when the same person does it and they're getting fed up or they're not getting the stars because that causes a bit of conflict.

"A happy camp is a well fed camp so we don't want them to be well-fed although when I'm watching it at home I'm sitting there hoping they get the stars but It's quite funny when they don't.

"I feel like Ginge has changed that because I think he would have been voted for every single one, not because people don't like him but his popularity and his streamers would have voted it."
