Alex Scott Revealed 'Secret' Eight-Year Relationship With Football Legend

Former England full-back and current ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ contestant, Alex Scott, previously revealed that she was in a ‘secret relationship’ with a football legend.

Scott, 41, made 140 appearances for England between 2004 and 2017 before embarking on a career in the media – appearing on of shows including the BBC’s Match of the Day and Football Focus.

The 41-year-old is currently taking part in ITV’s reality show ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ alongside nine other celebrities, including football content creator Angry Ginge and rapper Aitch.

In terms of sport, Scott won one Women’s Super League (WSL) and four FA WSL crowns during her time at Arsenal, as well as enjoying spells at Birmingham City and defunct American side Boston Breakers.

The 41-year-old’s love life has often been a topic of interest, with the former footballer currently in a relationship with singer Jess Glynne. The pair first started dating around two years ago.

Before heading into the Australian outback for the ITV show, Scott discussed how the pair’s time apart is “going to be a test”.

Speaking to the Mail, Scott said: “From the start, we were very guarded and private because we wanted to get to know each other and figure out ourselves before it was out there for the world.

“Her cooking pasta for me is absolutely everything. Those quiet moments when your life's a hundred miles per hour, just coming home and she loves to cook and we love to sit and have a glass of wine.”

But several years before Scott and Glynne got together, the former right-back developed a romance with one of her former Arsenal teammates.

In her 2022 memoir, How (Not) To Be Strong, Scott lifted the lid on her previous romance with ex-Gunners and England star Kelly Smith.

The duo played alongside each other during Scott’s second spell at Arsenal between 2005 and 2009.

The pair were together for around eight years without the public officially knowing about them being “madly and deeply in love”.

After the memoir was released, the 41-year-old told the Mirror: “I’m writing this book and I want to tell everything. I thought I’d be cheating you all if I didn’t put that in there [information about her relationship with Smith].

“And for me, it’s like that first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love. And yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life, and I wouldn’t go back and change that.

“Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”

Smith, who earned 117 caps, remains England’s second-highest ever goalscorer with 46 goals for the Lionesses.
