Steph Curry gave a brilliant answer when he was compared to Lionel Messi.

While football and basketball are very different, Messi and Curry are similar in that they are two of the greatest ever players in their respective sports.

Messi has won a record eight Ballons d'Or, 10 La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and the FIFA World Cup, among other titles.

The former Barcelona star, now playing for MLS side Inter Miami, is widely considered to be the best player of all time.

Curry has a strong claim to be the best basketball player on the planet since Michael Jordan retired in 2003.

The 36-year-old star has won four NBA Championships since being drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2009, and this summer helped the United States basketball team win gold at the Olympic Games.

Back in 2018, Curry spoke about comparisons between himself and Messi, specifically their creativity and innovation.

"I think it’s the creative genius to what he does and a flair, but also there is a fundamental aspect to the flair," Curry said, via GOAL.

"The work that he puts in, I’m assuming, based on the talent that he has, and combining that with the talent that he has and how that kind of shows when he’s out there on the pitch."

The NBA legend went on to admit he understands the comparisons between him and the Argentinian superstar.

"So I think there’s a lot of comparison, really, around the creativity and the innovation that we bring to our respective sports and trying to, I guess, impact - I would say influence the next generation to try to push themselves as well.
