Steph Curry’s long-time working relationship with coach Steve Kerr is set to continue, after the agreement of a new two-year deal.
The Golden State Warriors have reportedly reached an agreement for Steve Kerr to remain as head coach going into the 2026/27, which would mark his 13th year at the helm.
Kerr’s tenure, largely due to the immeasurable impact of four-time NBA champion Steph Curry, has been the most successful in Warriors franchise history.
According to a report from The Athletic, the agreement with Kerr came on Saturday, with the coach agreeing in principle to a two-year contract that would see his stay in San Francisco extend to 14 years.

The Warriors endured a season-ending loss to the Phoenix Suns in early April, during the final Play-In Tournament game which determined the last playoff seed.
Kerr was overheard after the defeat, which ended 111-96 to the Suns, discussing his future with Curry and Draymond Green, following over a year of speculation amongst Warriors fans.
Despite the prevailing thought being that Kerr would pen a new deal, that assumption was thrown into question by his speech to Curry and Green.
During the final moments of the Play-In defeat, the 60-year-old said: “I don’t know what’s gonna happen next, but I love you guys to death. Thank you, I appreciate you.”
Kerr’s tenure will perhaps be best remembered for his partnership with Steph Curry, having won four NBA Championships together and building one of the NBA’s most formidable dynasties in the 2010s.
Kerr keeps promise to Curry with long-time partnership set to continue
The 60-year-old previously told The Athletic in December that he will “never leave” Steph Curry while discussing his relationship with the Warriors star.
“He is one of the finest human beings I’ve ever been around in my life. And just to come to work every day and see Steph has made this job everything,” said Kerr.
We form[ed] a partnership that I will be grateful for [for] my entire life, because it goes way beyond how good he is as a basketball player,” he continued.
Per The Athletic’s league source, Kerr will remain the highest-paid coach in the NBA, with his previous salary amounting to $17.5 million annually, but his latest payday has not yet been revealed.
For now, it appears highly likely that Curry will avoid the departure of his long-time coach, mentor and friend, however, issues concerning the 38-year-old’s fitness could dictate whether their working relationship comes to a winning end in the coming seasons.
Curry missed two months of the NBA season with a runner’s knee injury and will now look to regain health ahead of the coming season, aiming to add to his six NBA Finals appearances and four championship victories alongside Kerr.
