UFC fighter accuses Islam Makhachev of 'cheating' against Alexander Volkanovski, makes serious allegation

Islam Makhachev accused of 'cheating' against Alexander Volkanovski.

Team Islam Makhachev have responded to furious allegations that he 'cheated' against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284.

Makhachev beat Volkanovski in the main-event of UFC 284 to defend his UFC lightweight title, narrowly winning a decision victory in Perth.

The Dagestan star became the first fighter to beat the Australian in the UFC, but his victory has been tainted by Dan Hooker, who has made some serious accusations on social media.

He's accused the 31-year-old of illegally using an IV to rehydrate after weighing in for his championship showdown.

Under the rules of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the UFC's drug testing partner, using an IV is banned and considered an illegal practice.

Hooker tweeted: "Dumb c**t thinks he can fly to Australia hire a nurse to give him an I.V and we won’t find out. Cheating dog."

In another tweet, he wrote: "Prove me wrong. Bet cha can’t."

A third tweet, he added: "He doesn’t cheat, he doesn’t win."

Asked who he was referring to by a fan, Hooker replied: "Islam is a cheat."

However, Makhachev's co-manager, Rizvan Magomedov hit back at the outrageous allegations and denied any wrongdoing by the UFC champion.

"We all know this is completely BS," Magomedov told MMA Junkie. "The guy is a loser. He’s salty and just looking for attention, and that’s it."

Hooker hasn't fought since his victory over Claudio Puelles at UFC 281 last November. He was in attendance for UFC 284 to support his teammate.

Volkanovski was asked about Makhachev's weight on fight night and mentioned the use of IV's.

"I’ve heard he gets up to like 83 kilograms or close to. You fill up pretty quick you know on the IV’s and stuff like that," he said.

"Maybe that’s a little shot at him but you know, you hear whispers."
