Alexander Volkanovski snubs Jon Jones when naming his 'top five UFC GOATs' in history

Alexander Volkanovski has named his 'top five UFC GOATs' in history and left out Jon Jones.

Jones is viewed as the UFC GOAT by many fans and critics alike, including Dana White.

He won the UFC light-heavyweight title at the peak of his powers, beating the likes of Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, among others, before claiming the UFC heavyweight belt following his victory over Ciryl Gane.

Jones' body of work is extremely impressive given he took out a series of different waves of contenders at light-heavyweight.

But Volkanovski, who is the current holder of the UFC featherweight title, has snubbed Jones when naming his 'top five UFC GOATs'.

The Australian star, who defended his UFC featherweight belt against Diego Lopes in February, overlooked Jones and instead picked Demetrious Johnson, Georges St- Pierre and Anderson Silva.

Not to mention active fighters Israel Adesanya and UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev, who boasts two victories over Volkanovski.

Speaking in the latest episode of his YouTube channel, Volkanovski said: "Top five UFC GOATs, I’m gonna be completely honest, Demetrious Johnson, I don’t know how many title fights he won, the competition and level at flyweight, I don’t think people understand, it is so competitive.

"Georges St-Pierre. Who else have we got? Man, you know what, I think Islam (Makhachev) has done enough to put himself in that conversation, I think I would put him there."

'The Great' added: "This might be bias but I’m gonna throw in Israel Adesanya. You’ve got to remember who he’s beat, beating Robert Whittaker in his prime twice.

"You’ve got Anderson Silva obviously, who has done incredible things as well and again, we have got to look at the timing as well. People might say it’s bias but alright, I’m bias anyway but I’m throwing Izzy in there."

Volkanovski also name-dropped Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired with an undefeated MMA record of 29-0, and said Makhachev entered his list over 'The Eagle' because of his stellar resume, which includes wins over Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier and Jack Della Maddalena.
