Xabi Alonso is preparing to make his fourth signing at Real Madrid less than a month before the start of the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed last week that he would be leaving the club following the conclusion of the current La Liga campaign to take the job of Brazil's new head coach.

Although it is yet to be confirmed, former club legend Alonso is widely expected to take over as manager of Real Madrid, having recently confirmed his departure from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

And it appears that the Spaniard is wasting no time ahead of his arrival at the Bernabeu, as a new report has claimed that he is targeting his fourth major signing ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.

With the Club World Cup set to kick off in the United States in just a few weeks time, Real Madrid are hoping to completely reinvigorate their defence with new signings that can make their debuts at the competition.

Bournemouth recently confirmed that star defender Dean Huijsen will join the Spanish giants this summer, with Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold set to follow.

Reports have suggested that a deal for Benfica left-back Alvaro Carreras is close to being completed, allowing Real Madrid to turn their focus to midfield, where they hope to bring back star player Nico Paz as their fourth signing of the summer.

According to Spanish outlet Football Espana, Real Madrid have been impressed with Paz's recent performances after allowing the 20-year-old to move to Italian club Como last summer, and are keen to make a return move before the Club World Cup.

The €6m deal that saw the Argentine international join the Serie A club also included a €9m buyback option, meaning a deal to bring Paz back to the Bernabeu should be relatively easy.

The young talent has established himself as a key part of Como's midfield, making 34 appearances in the Serie A this season, scoring six goals and assisting nine.

His form has reportedly attracted interest from several other clubs, including Inter Milan, but it now appears to be likely that he will become the latest addition to Alonso's Real Madrid overhaul.
