Jose Mourinho is desperate to raid Manchester United for his first signing as the new Real Madrid manager.
Mourinho will meet Real Madrid president Florentino Perez next week to discuss a sensational return to the club.
The 63-year-old previously managed Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga in 2012 over Pep Guardiola's legendary Barcelona side.
Perez believes Mourinho will get the most out of a Madrid side which will go trophyless for only the fourth time this century. In January, Xabi Alonso left his position as head coach after six months, while Alvaro Arbeloa has failed to impress since stepping up from Castilla.

Madrid's campaign has been marred by infighting in the squad, culminating in Federico Valverde's hospitalisation following an altercation with Aurelien Tchouameni.
Mourinho knows he's got a rebuild on his hands. What he requires is players who'll buy into his methods and have been successful with him previously.
Knowing that, he's decided to show interest in a familiar face at his former club.

Per Miguel Delaney, Mourinho wants to send a shockwave across world football and welcome Marcus Rashford to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rashford, who Mourinho worked with at United between 2016 and 2019, has spent this campaign on loan with Barcelona, even scoring against Madrid in a 2-0 victory which sealed the La Liga title last weekend.
The belief is that Mourinho wants to disrupt his biggest domestic rivals while bolstering his attacking options too.
The self-proclaimed 'Special One' has a good relationship with Rashford, who is unwanted back at Old Trafford, but is yet to receive the green light for a permanent transfer to Barcelona.

Rashford's views on where his future lies
Rashford is aware that a return to his boyhood club is likely off the cards. United's qualification for next season's Champions League will see his wages skyrocket.
The England international is one of the best-paid players in the squad, but he's willing to turn his back on that money to stay with Barcelona.
When asked about his future by reporters last week, Rashford replied: "I don't know. I am not a magician, but if I were, I would stay. So we will see.
"It's really good. I come here to win. So this is... I want to win as many things as I can. So, this is one more to add to this. Yeah, this team is a wonderful team. They're going to win so much in the future as well. So, to be a part of that would be special. So we will see."
