AC Milan fans make their feelings clear on Kyle Walker as Italian media react to 'failure' of a season

The England right-back joined the Serie A side on loan from Manchester City during the winter transfer window.

AC Milan fans have made their feelings clear on Kyle Walker after the club’s CEO admitted that the 2024/25 season was a “failure”.

Walker, 34, joined AC Milan from Manchester City on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

However, things have not gone as well as the England international may have liked, as the 19-time Serie A winners have endured a torrid campaign and currently sit eighth in the division.

On Wednesday (May 14), the Rossoneri’s misery was compounded when they lost 1-0 in the Coppa Italia final against Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome – although Walker was introduced on 62 minutes.

In January, Walker explained how he had joined Milan as he “didn’t want to just win things in one country” and wanted “to come to another country and also win there as well”.

But this season he will finish his campaign without a winner’s medal around his neck.

Following yesterday’s defeat, Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani told Sport Mediaset how this season was a “failure”.

Furlana said: “I cannot deny this is a failure of a season. Despite winning the Supercoppa, we are still a long way off where we wanted to be.

“Now there are two games left to play, we will try to end the season in the best possible way, even if we are distant from the targets that we had set at the start of the campaign.

“We share the disappointment of our fans, as a supporter and now as a director, we have to admit various errors were made. We must go forward, correct them, and get back to where we ought to be.”

Milan fans also gave their take on Walker's time at the club.

One joked: "I'll go to jail my entire life if it means Kyle Walker is dealt with."

Another added: "Having Walker on this great team is unacceptable."

While a third commented: "Kyle Walker saw most of his teammate in the penalty box and decided to do a back pass."

So, what's next for Walker?

According to reports from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the defender will return to Manchester City at the end of the season as Milan have reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign him for just €5m.

The emergence of 20-year-old Spanish right-back Alex Jimenez and several injuries Walker has sustained are thought to be the two main factors behind the Italian side's decision.
