A new documentary offering a behind-the-scenes look at Pep Guardiola's final two seasons at Manchester City shows the Spaniard being reduced to tears during a heated dressing-room bust-up with Kyle Walker.
To the surprise of many, Walker asked to leave then-Premier League champions City in January 2025 and "expressed an interest to go and play abroad" after seven trophy-laden years at the club.
The defender, who made 319 appearances for City, would join Serie A giants AC Milan on a season-long loan after being persuaded to make the switch by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, an advisor to the club's American owners.
On his arrival at the San Siro, Walker admitted it was "not a comfortable conversation" when he told Pep Guardiola he wanted to leave for more game time.

"When I spoke with Pep it was not a very comfortable conversation because of the respect that we both have for each other and what we've achieved at Manchester City," he said at his unveiling.
Now, a new four-part Amazon Prime Video documentary called 'A Beautiful Obsession' has detailed what happened prior to Walker's departure, when he had an explosive bust-up with Guardiola.
The dressing room incident happened after City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in December 2024, with Walker accusing his manager of singling him out.
“You keep saying my name, every meeting,” Walker screams. “Every f***ing meeting it’s my name.”
Guardiola then suggested Walker’s name came up as a result of his captaincy. "You didn’t want me to be a captain," Walker replied, adding: "I’ve reacted to someone else, I’ve lost the ball, you somehow bring my name into it.”
The former Barcelona manager went on to deliver an emotional speech to his players. “If I am a problem, you have to tell me,” a tearful Guardiola said. "I won’t stay here for the money or just for the fact of staying."
Guardiola continued: “I extended the contract because I want to be with you, I want to fight in that position. I don’t want you to feel like I’m leaving and running away from you.
“I don’t want to have the feeling that the pieces fall down. And I feel ‘No, I want to help you.’ “But if you feel, captains first and then the other ones, that there is a problem? Tell me. It’s not going to change the love I have for all of you. Not one second. But I want to fight. That’s all. I’m sorry.”
Pep Guardiola mentioned divorce in passionate Manchester City team talk
Back in December 2024, after they lost 2-0 to Juventus in the Champions League, Guardiola spoke to his players about his divorce from his wife of 30 years, Cristina Serra, as he mentioned passion.
“Guys, I want to confess something. I'm f***ing divorced from the most beautiful woman in your planet," he said.
“It's my wife, my ex-wife. I love her unbelievably but we lost the passion. For many reasons we lost the passion. I love her? Yeah, absolutely. She loves me? Yeah. But we lost the passion.
"How you play football? Because you play or because you have something inside. What is the passion? In your life, whatever you are going to do. Do it with passion. I don’t want good players, I want players with passion.”
