Al Hilal have reportedly made official contact for a superstar signing to replace Neymar in the summer.

The Riyadh outfit are currently top of the Saudi Pro League on goal difference after taking 37 points from 14 games, with former Fulham and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic on fire and bagging 12 goals.

Jorge Jesus' side is full of big names, including Portugal pair Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly, Renan Lodi, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Malcom.

And their squad being so stacked has meant they have not felt the absence of Neymar, who has experienced a nightmare spell in Saudi Arabia after signing from Paris Saint-Germain.

Al Hilal paid £86.3 million for Neymar's services and the Brazil star is believed to earn around £2.65 million per week. But he he has played just seven times across two seasons after suffering an ACL injury which put him out of action for around a year.

The former Barcelona sensation has suffered from other niggling injuries and reports from ESPN claim Neymar could be on his way to the MLS to embark on a new challenge in the United States, where three clubs are keen.

But his club are already eyeing up a stunning replacement for Neymar, with L'Equipe claiming Al Hilal are confident of landing Liverpool star Mo Salah.

Salah has been heavily courted by Saudi Pro League clubs in the past and even the subject of a £150 million bid from Al Ittihad in the past.

And the interest in making him the next marquee signing very much exists. Salah is out of contract in the summer and though intense speculation about his future has not affected his performances on the past, has been extremely vocal about his situation and how negotiations haven't progressed positively.

The report states that Al Hilal have been in touch with Salah's entourage as they step up their interest in the Egyptian star.

Salah set for mammoth payday

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the state’s General Entertainment Authority, ramped up talk of Salah moving to Saudi after posting a picture of him in Al Hilal colours.

According to The Sun, Saudi officials are prepared to offer Salah an incredible two-year contract that would see him earn £65 million while becoming the new face of the SPL.

They could even look to complete the deal so that Salah can play for Al Hilal at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, which takes place in June.
