Nottingham Forest are keeping a close eye on a Premier League manager despite Sean Dyche's appointment last week.

Dyche replaced Ange Postecoglou who was sacked in the immediate aftermath of Forest's crushing 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

The 54-year-old, who was out of work following his Everton dismissal in January, got his reign off to a great start after beating Porto 2-0 in the Europa League in his first game in charge.

But the club returned to their old ways when they resumed their Premier League campaign on Sunday, losing 2-0 at Bournemouth.

Forest haven't claimed a league point since their 1-1 draw with Burnley last month.

Dyche will be tasked with guiding his side to safety as they occupy a place in the bottom three.

But he might not be in Forest's long-term plans.

Forest considered Marco Silva to replace Nuno Espirito Santo and he has since been linked with the role again.

That's according to Football Insider, who claim Forest are keeping a close eye on Silva's situation at Fulham as he remains a long-term target despite their decision to appoint Dyche.

Given Evangelos Marinakis' track record with managers, if things go wrong with Dyche, the Greek owner could act quickly and make a move for Silva.

"Obviously, Fulham are very keen to extend Silva’s contract. They don’t want to see him walk away in the summer, because he will be a hard act to replace," said Peter O'Rourke.

"They’ve finished 10th, 13th and 11th, and got a club record points tally last season, so he’s continually making improvement and progress at Craven Cottage.

"Fulham will be doing everything they can to extend the Portuguese contract.

"Obviously he was in the reckoning for this Nottingham Forest job before they appointed Sean Dyche as well.

"Let’s see what happens there with Forest and Dyche because he hasn’t signed a new contract at Fulham and is available on a free, who’s not to say that Forest could renew their interest in Marco Silva there as well."

Fulham are hellbent on keeping Silva and their owners have told him of their desire to renew his contract, which contains a release clause in the region of £15 million.

Silva has been at Craven Cottage since his appointment in July 2021 and guided his side to an 11th-place finish last season.

The Portuguese has plenty of managerial experience in England, having also taken charge of Hull City, Watford and Everton.
