Sean Dyche Could Use Bizarre Fine System at Forest After Replacing Postecoglou

Dyche has taken over as Forest manager on a contract until the summer of 2027.

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche could introduce a new fine list to the club after replacing Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian was sacked by Forest after just 39 days in charge, making him the shortest-serving permanent manager since the formation of the Premier League in 1992.

Dyche, a former Forest youth player who never made a first-team appearance, replaces him after 10 months out of the game following his sacking by Everton.

Forest legends Steve Stone and Ian Woan also move to the City Ground as Dyche's assistants, having both worked under him at Burnley.

In a club statement, Forest wrote: "Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the Club through its next chapter.

"Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches in his career to date, Dyche has built teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience and strength from set pieces - qualities that align closely with the current squad's attributes and the Club's footballing identity.

"As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche also has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters."

His first task will be to rejuvenate a Forest side who sit 18th and have won just one of their eight Premier League matches this season.

He could also look to overhaul the club's fine system, replacing it with the one he used at Burnley.

Dyche introduced a 'fine wheel' system for more minor infractions by players, with some of the possible punishments purely financial.

However, other punishments included players having their car valeted, sitting in the local river - and even lap dancing.

Dyche told SPORTbible Stories in 2022: "One of them would be spin again for someone's car to be valeted - if it comes out with your number, he has to pay for your car to be valeted.

"One that was a good one, they would have to be dinner for you and a mate or your partner, whichever. Of course someone tops it don't they, they hit the big one. Bottle of shampoo and all that. Before you know it, they're screwed because the bill's coming in at like 400 quid. They have to pay it.

"There was a river by the training ground, we'd have to sit in the river for a minute.

"Lap dance. Lap dance was hilarious. If you got a lap dance, you'd have to spin again and get the number for someone you'd do the lap for. Genius. Hideous, but genius."

"They are negotiable to the point you have to do it," Dyche added. "At first there you get resistors and all that, but once they get involved with it, they're buzzing.

"Some of them were properly dying - like singing in front of the group. You'd be surprised how you'd just see a grown man crushed singing in front of his mates.

"Some would be fined. Some would be 50 quid - never mad stuff - and some would be like, you win two free spins, you spin for someone else to spin. You put some fun stuff in, so you could actually win from it."
